Prevention, Emergency Response, and the Comox Fire Training Centre

Comox Fire Rescue provides a variety of preventive and emergency services to a population of over 18,000 in an area of 16 square miles. This includes the Town of Comox, the Comox Fire Protection Improvement District, the Bates Huband Local Service Area (Regional District of Comox-Strathcona), and the Comox Indian Band. They also operate the Comox Fire Training Centre, which trains firefighters from all over Vancouver Island, and even parts of BC and the rest of Canada. The training centre is certified by the JIBC.

FireSmart Initiative: Free Yard Waste and Wood Chipping Event

The Comox Valley FireSmart Resilience Committee is pleased to announce a collaborative effort to host a yard and wood waste chipping event on April 27 and 28 at the Comox Fire Hall parking lot (1870 Noel Avenue) from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. This event is proudly funded by the Province of British Columbia’s Community Resiliency Investment grant.


This free drop-off chipping event is being held to support FireSmart safety on properties by facilitating the removal of excess yard waste and wood debris that could potentially fuel wildfires and endanger homes. Yard waste collected during the event will be chipped and responsibly disposed.
