Prevention, Emergency Response, and the Comox Fire Training Centre
Comox Fire Rescue provides a variety of preventive and emergency services to a population of over 18,000 in an area of 16 square miles. This includes the Town of Comox, the Comox Fire Protection Improvement District, the Bates Huband Local Service Area (Regional District of Comox-Strathcona), and the Comox Indian Band. They also operate the Comox Fire Training Centre, which trains firefighters from all over Vancouver Island, and even parts of BC and the rest of Canada. The training centre is certified by the JIBC.

START (Survival Training And Rescue Techniques) is an intensive 1-day course that focuses on hands-on training to develop important skills that can save you and your fellow firefighters if things go bad.

What a beautiful day to get Ladder 35 out for some Friday morning training! Evolutions involved rescues from a 3rd storey window and 5th storey balcony using a spine board and basket. Meanwhile, Rescue 38 completed searches in our smoke filled START building.
Today we wave goodbye to Adam Auld, our most recent work experience firefighter. Adam joined us in November of last year in order to gain experience on calls and training. He hopes to be hired as a career firefighter. During his 4 months at CFR, Adam responded to 150 incidents and attended countless training and volunteer events. Adam, we wish you the best of luck in all your future endeavours!

The Comox Valley Lion's Club has donated $1,000 to the Comox Firefighter's Association to be used for our upcoming Youth Camp! This donation will be put towards meals and snacks for the 36 students during their 4 days spent training at Comox Fire Rescue. Your donations is greatly appreciated!
